April New Release At Inspired Stamps

It is time for another New Release over at Inspired Stamps.  The new stamps will be on sale in the online store Friday at noon.  This week the Design Team is Showcasing the New Releases. 

I am giving you a Sneak Peek of the new Background Stamps.  I absolutely love this set!! It has 4 different background textures, sheet music, bubble wrap, chicken wire, and netting.  For my projects I used the bubble wrap & sheet music.  I was planning on creating something with all 4 backgrounds but the easter holiday and a sick son interfered.  So keep an eye on my creations cause I will be using these backgrounds a lot.

For my first project I decided to show how the Background Stamps can be used on a scrapbook layout. If you see my scrapbooks you will see that I love to create my own B&T paper using stamps.  The New Background Stamps are perfect for this.  The above layout is for my son Tony's scrapbook, he turns 17 today.  He is my athlete and loves to wrestle.  For this layout I used the bubble wrap background stamp and inked it partially with Cranberry ink, the inked the other end with black ink (our school colors).  I then stamped it 4 times across my page to create my red & black corners. I love how Easily this layout came together, with the help of the background stamps.

  

For the above card I used the sheet music background.  As a child my mom have old sheet music stored in the piano bench and my sister and I would pull it out and sit at the piano and pretend to play.  It was brown with age, so with that in mind I decided to go for the same feel.  I stamped the background in Cocoa ink, then distressed it all over with Desert Sand ink, this really gave it the old sheet music feel. I finished my card with the 1Thes. 5:18 scriptyre from the new Labelmaker Verse set.

Easter Sets

This week for our Inspired Stamps Design Team work we were asked to create a set of Easter cards.  To me Easter is pastel colors and flowers with the promise of Spring.  I now had my colors but next I needed the design.  I have been in a creative rut lately, so off to Pinterest I went to find my inspiration.  This helped and I created the above card set.  I used the big flower from the Flowers stamp set amd the Label Maker Alphabet Stamp set. 

I first cut my squares and placed glued them to a 3x3 square, then I stamped my flowers in Versa Mark ink and Heat embossed them with White embossing powder.  You can't tell from the picture but they are placed on a piece of white cardstock that is embossed using my cuttlebug.

Last Minute Gift

Christmas is less than a week away, Do you have all your gifts bought??  Me, I just started my Christmas Shopping.  Seem's like I am constantly waiting till the last minute to get my shopping finished.  In my defense my son's are wrestlers and that means my weekends are all spent at all day wrestling tournaments, so that doesn't leave much chance for shopping.

This week over at Inspired Stamps we are focusing on last minute gifts, I should be a pro at this considering I always seem to be getting things at the last minute.

For my last minute gift I made this cute little treat holder, using Inspired Stamps Vintage Christmas and Snowmen to Random Stamp the white box that came with the treat tubes,  I filled my tube with M&M's wrapped a little glitter tape around the tube, added my scalloped circle with my greeting and I have a quick  and easy gift. 

Until my son Tony wrestles off for a lower weight class and he will now be fighting to stay under 132 the rest of the season.  Guess he will not be eating any chocolate anytime soon, and I am back to the drawing board for his last minute gift.  (Guess that means more chocolate for Mom :-)

Sneak Peek Week

 It's Sneak Peek Week over at Inspired Stamps, so today I am showcasing artwork using the new Inspired Shapes stamp set.  Remember the Inspired Stamps Design Team will be giving you sneak peeks of the New Stamps sets that will be released this Friday at noon on the Inspired Stamps website.

When I first saw this set I immediately knew that my artwork would include me creating my own background paper using Random Stamping.  Above is just the beginning of my creating with this set.  My 2nd son is graduating in a few short weeks, and at the rate the Graduation parties are stacking up, I really need to get on the ball and create lots of graduation cards.  I had so much fun with this new stamp set that I was able to get seven done.

I combined the Inspired Shapes with His Plans for you and More Perfect Sentiments to create all the cards.

This is my Background paper for my first card, my son goes to a vocational school, so he has lots of friends who go to different schools, and have different school colors.  I decided that the rainbow colors would let me create a card and not have to worry if it was the right color for their school or not.

These next to began with my just playing around with the Rectangle in the set, and next thing I know I have what looks like a brick wall, which reminded me of the boys elementary school building.  Believe it or not these two are actually from the same piece of Random Stamped paper, for some reason the lighting is really off in the second picture.

Flowers

This week the Inspired Stamps Design Team is focusing on combining Flower Stamps with a scripture.  I decided to once again create my own backgrounds using the Flowers stamp set.  I couldn't decided which card I wanted to make so this week you get to see 2 pieces of my artwork.

The first card is using a piece of the background paper I created in my April 5th post. I combined the Flowers Stamp Set background with the His Plans For You Stamp Set, to create this card. I love how the background turned out and am disappointed I only have 2 small scraps of it left. It has been really fun to play with and I am sure I will be making my own Background paper using this technique again real soon.

On my second card I used the Big Flower from the Flowers Stamp set to create the Key Lime and Sky background paper using the same color cardstock and ink stamping tone on tone.  I also took a piece of white cardstock and stamped it using Sky, Sunkiss Yellow and Hollyhock creating a colorful background paper.  I also used the His Plans For You Stamp set for the Scripture.

Spring is in the Air

This week the Inspired Stamps Design team was asked to create something with a spring feel.  So I put on my thinking cap and decided that springtime means pastels and Graduations. (I just might have been influenced by the fact that my second son keeps reminding me that he will be graduating here in less than 2 months.)  So I created a graduation card using pastel colors.

  For this card I used Inspired Stamps His Plans for You for the scripture and the sentiment.  I also used one other stamp set can you find it.  Here is a hint:

Yep, you guessed it I used the Flowers stamp set to create my own background paper.

 I used the Burned Batik technique to create my background. I took the big flower from the Flower set and stamped it in Versa Mark all over my cardstock, I then sprinkled it with embossing powder and heated the powder until it melted into the paper, this let the ink resist the embossed area but I had burnt the image into the paper so the glossy, raised embossed area was no longer there. I then used a sponge dauber to add my ink to the page using the lightest one first.  After it was inked up I sprayed my paper with my homemade glimmer mist to give it a little shine, and to help blend the ink.

Getting into shapes

This week over at Inspired Stamps we are getting into shape for March.  So I pulled out my Journal Shapes and Scenic View stamp sets and looked at their shapes instead of their design and worked on coming up with something out-of-the-box.  This is what I came up with.  I created this Easter card using the Shapes from the two stamp sets listed above can you tell where they were used?

Can you see where I used my shapes?  Remember I think outside of the box.  Okay here is a clue.

Yeap I stamped various shapes on the eggs with Versa Mark ink and then clear embossed them.  I then used the Emboss Resist technique and "colored" my eggs.  I used the Scenic View Stamp Set for the Purple, Light Pink, Green, and Yellow eggs, and Journal Shapes for the Dark Pink and Orange eggs.

I also used the grass stamp from Scenic View set to add texture to my grass, and for the sentiment.  I was going to redo a couple of the eggs, because of the stray pieces of embossing powder that speckled them, but my youngest so said they reminded him of the eggs they do when they use the "clear wax crayon" to decorate their eggs before they color them, so I had to leave them as is.

3 ways to use Inspired Stamps $3.99 Scripture stamps

This week at Inspired Stamps we are focusing on our favorite  $3.99 Scripture stamps, and showing yhou three ways they can be used.  For my projects I got one of my old favorites, Vellum!

It has been a long time since I had used it and I had forgotten how much fun it was to play with.  I had a blast playing with it and am very satisfied with what I have come up with.

I used the $3.99 Scripture stamp Mark 10:27 for all 3 projects. 

This is most definately my favorite card and it is way different than what I was imagining when I started and I love the feel it gives. It reminds me of my Dad's well worn Bible, with the gold edges. 

For this card I first stamped the Scripture in rows on my vellum in Cocoa ink to create my background.  Below is a close up of my background sheet.  I then cut it to 4x5-1/4 an slowly tore the edge of the vellumall around the edges.  I then inked the edges in Desert Sand ink making sure some ink got onto the page to give it a distressed look.  It is then mounted on a piece of Colonial White with the edges ink distressed.  This is then mounted on gold paper from Pizazz.

For my second card I once again stamped the Scripture onto my vellum, but this time I used Versa Mark ink and then heat embossed the scripture with clear detail embossing powder.

After I had embossed the page I sponged Desert Sand ink over the entire page, the embossed Scripture resisted the ink leaving a negative "white" image on my vellum.  Below I have an example of what my background looked like before I covered it up.

My last card is my least favorite of the 3, it was the first one I created and the more I played the better the cards got that night.

:-)  For this card I Stamped the Scripture in Cocoa ink on the vellum then heat embossed it.  The nice thing about Vellum is your ink don't dry that fast so you can emboss your image using just your inks, and don't have to use Versa Mark or embossing inks.

This time I also tore around the edges and inked them to give the vellum a distressed look.  Sorry the Scripture looks blurred, I couldn't get a good picture without the embossing reflecting and making it look blurred.  Below is a close up of the Scripture showing that it really isn't blurred.

Sneak Peek Week at Inspired Stamps with Random Stamping

This Friday at noon the Inspired Stamps online Store will be releasing New Stamps.  So this week Antoinette and the rest of the Design Team are giving you a sneak peek at the upcoming New Releases on the Inspired Stamps blog. So make sure you check in everyday so you can get a sneak peek at all the new stamps. 

Today I am showcasing the new Label Maker Words and Journal Shapes.  When I first saw these stamp sets my creative brain immediately screamed Random Stamping (RS).  The wonderful thing about stamping is that if you can't find a paper to fit your mood, you can instantly create your own using a couple of stamps, your favorite colors and a sheet of cardstock.  Here are the 2 background papers I created using random stamping.


For this background paper I individually stamped each word from the Label Maker Words Stamp Set on the Card stock, making sure to intentionally stagger each row to give it a brick like appearance. If you notice all the words are the same color with an exception of three that I wanted to stand out.

Here is the Simple Valentine/Love Card I created using this RS Background Paper. 

On this next piece of RS cardstock, I stamped some of the shapes from Jounal Shapes in different colors on the page.  This paper looks very busy now but once it is on the card the other elements will help tone it down.

Here is the simple Birthday card I created using this RS background cardstock.  I also used Deuteronomy 31:8, 1" Circle Sentiments, and Label Maker Alphabet to complete this card.



 For this next background paper is made using a process I call wordblocking, I took my acrylic block and placed all my stamps I wanted to use on the block and the inked them all up at once and stamped on my cardstock, alternating the direction of the block to change up the design some.

Here is the block showing how I placed words from both the Label Maker Words  and Journal Shapes stamp sets on my acrylic block.

Here is the Hi! card I created using this background paper.  If you notice the blue squares are also random stamped, the Sky pieces were stamped using the wordblock, used on the background.  the Pacifica pieces were random stamped using the swirl stamp from Journal Shapes.  I used More Perfect Sentiments to finish of this card.
