A little Play time

Thanks to the lovely ice storm, I have managed to sneak a little play time in around the constant running with the kids.  This is what I managed to get done, I was hoping to have a card class in February, and I might still if the weather will hold off.  Right now my Layout class that was to be held in January will be held this tuesday Feb 8 6-8pm at the Warren Township community Center.

Here are the cards I got done during my play time on Tuesday, just so you know the electric went out while I was finishing the last card & I actually put the final touches on it by Cell phone Lite. LOL

When I saw this weeks Mojo Monday sketch #176 I couldn't help but think of tearing the paper and layering it on my card.  Here is the sketch I based all my cards on.

I decided to create my cards using the Sweetheart Paper Pack from Close To My Heart, the colors in the paper pack are Baby pink, Black, Cotton Candy and Tulip. I used the floral Paper from the pack, along with Black, White Daisy and Baby Pink Cardstock, along with Tulip & Black ink.

For my first card I took Black, Baby Pink and White Daisy Cardstock and piled them together, and then started tearing all three at once so the tears would follow the same contour. I then placed them on my card leaving about a half an inch between each layer of cardstock, I did ink the edges of the White Daisy Card stock to set it apart from the base.  I then embellished it with various items I had created.  Other items used, Soul Mates Stamp Set, Dainty Thoughts Stamp Set, CM Heart Punches.  For the stamped images I inked the image up in Tulip ink and them sponged black over it for added effect.
As I was working on the first card I was finding elements that I really didn't care for, so I of course had to create a second card this time I didn't use the Whit Daisy cardstock, I replaced it with the Floral B&T from the Sweetheart Paper pack.  I really liked the effect this layering created.  Stamp Sets Used, Soul Mates, and Dainty Thoughts.  The hearts are inked in tulip and then just the one side of the heart is rolled in the black ink.

Awhile ago I bought the Close To My Heart Clear Acrylic Cards, and had yet to get them out to play with.  While I was working on the tearing and the layering I kept thinking about the clear cards and thought how neat it would have looked with the torn paper on the outside of the card and the whit on the inside.  So I layered my 3 peices of paper to tear when I remembered we would need a matching piece on the inside of the card also so I added a piece of white daisy cardstock to my pile and tore away.  This is my final result.

This card is definately my favorite card.  I love how it came together, but I still wanted a card that would be an inexpensive demo for me to teach at a card class, so I headed back to the drawing board and came up with my next card.

Stamp Sets Used: Adorning corners, and Gracious Greetings

This was my last card of the night, as I had to stamp the Happy Birthday and adhere the flower on by Cell phone light.  My cell phone was the only light I had near me when the power went out and I definately didn't want to kill my Mojo until the card was complete so I opened my phone inked up my stamp and stamped away, then put adrop of liquid glass on the flower and placed it in the desired location.  Then I went looking for the flash lights, and other power outage items we would need for the night.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to play since as we had no electric for 46 hours, and the time since has been spent playing catch up on the laundry, watching the boys wrestle, grocery shopping and trying to get my self healthy as I have picked up a nasty bug in the process.
