Christmas is Coming

It is hard to believe that summer is over, and the new School Year/Football Season has started.   Which means that Christmas is getting closer, and now is the time to start creating your Christmas cards, so you aren't still making them on Dec 24th. This week at Inspired Stamps the Design Team is creating Christmas themed artwork.  I used Vintage Christmas to create the card above.  The sentiment is Stamped and embossed on vellum, and then glued onto the B&T to create a vintage feel.

Materials Used:  Inspired Stamps Vintage Christmas,
CTMH: Mistletoe B&T, Colonial White Cardstock, Mistletoe Assortment Embelishment pack, Cocoa and Desert Sand Ink, clear Detail Embossing Powder
Gold Paper and Ricrac ribbon from Jo-Ann's

Today while you are viewing this post I will be at the Cleveland Processing center watching Jimmy Swear In.  Today is the day he has been waiting for and I have been dreading.  My Baby is leaving the nest and embarking on the next aspect of his life. While I am sad at the thought of losing my baby ond only having 2 kids in my house, I am very PROUD of Jimmy and support his decision to join the Army.  (Though I might add that his younger brothers, Tony and Dillon, have already started to divide up Jimmy's clothes and furniture.  If they didn't already have their own rooms, I am sure they would be fighting over who got the room also.  BOYS!!)

Please make sure you check out the rest of the team's artwork.

Until next week

Character & Scripture

This week over at Inspired Stamps we were to create artwork using a Character and Scripture (this was to be posted with the Tuesday group, but I forgot the schedule change).  Above is what I came up with.  As most of you know my son Jimmy is leaving for boot camp here soon.  Actually 3 days from now and it is really hitting home with this Momma. Most days have tears involved with them sometime during the day and my son and I are in the process of cleaning up his room (deep cleaning), so I have been scatter brained more than normal.

This is a card I am planning on sending him, sometime in the near future.  Usually when I stamp the HLO: Soldier with Flag, I paper piece him to give him his color and dimension.  With today's image I wanted to create the feeling of something missing, the soldier.  So I embossed the HLO using clear embossing powder on white glossy paper then inked my browns and greens over it to create a camo paper.  I then paired it with the scripture from the Psalm 91 Protection  stamp set, to create my card front.

On the inside I inked my edges with dessert sand and then stamped the HLO:Soldier with Flag again in opposite corners in Desert Sand and the "Missing you and thanking God that He is there with you!" Sentiment from the Psalm 91 Protection Set in Black.

Materials Used: Inspired Stamps HLO:Soldier with Flag, and Psalm 91 Protection
CTMH: Desert Sand, Olive, New England Ivy, Cocoa, Black Ink, Colonial White, Barn Red, and Desert Sand Cardstock, B&T, Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Versa Mark ink
Glossy Paper from Hallo's

Inspired Stamps Sneak Peek Week

It is New Release time over at Inspired Stamps, all this week the members of the Design Team will be giving you a "Sneak Peek" of the New Inspired Stamps that will be released for sale this Friday Aug 17 at Noon.

Today Chere, Patty and I are giving you a Sneak Peek of the New Inspired Stamps "Feel Better".  I had lots of fun playing with this set, and I created 3 very different cards with it.

Last week, when we were to say what we felt our style was, I said "my style" changes depending on my mood.  Well last week was Clean and Simple, but this week is Whimsical, and Shabby.

For my first card, I decided that the Band-Aid look would be perfect for a "Feel Better" stamp set.  Just think back when we were kids and had a scrapped knee usually all it took to make us feel better was a hug from Mom and a Band-Aid to show off.  So I pulled out my stamps, Cuttlebug, and card stock and this is what I came up.
To create the band-aid holes I used my Swiss dots embossing folder and \
used the back side of the embossed cardstock.

My next card I decided to go a little shabby with, I was in a "De-Stressing" mood.  I also wanted to use the cute little band-aid stamp in the set to cover a paper tear.

These two cards remind me that while a band-aid and hug will help heal most physical wounds, God's love will heal all wounds!!!

My next card looks like it has been through the wringer, It is tattered, distressed and completely a mess, but it still looks beautiful in my eyes.  This card for me represents that even though you may feel like the whole world is stomping on you, there is always that little bright spot of life showing through.  And that no matter what you always have someone "God" in your corner.

For this card I created my Flower image using emboss resist method on glossy cardstock. I first inked up my cardstock in yellows and oranges, then I stamped my flower image with Versa Mark ink and coated with embossing powder. Once my image was embossed I inked over the cardstock again with black creating the orange flowers with a black background, as the embossed image resisted the ink. After I had my black as dark as I wanted it, I covered the whole piece in Versa Mark and heat embossed it several times, to give it a Glassy look.

Now Jump on over to Chere and Patty's blogs to see what they have created using Inspired Stamps Feel Better Stamp Set.

Until Next Week

My Style

This week over at the Inspired Stamps Blog we are adding new team members and we have all been asked to create cards that reflect our design style.

I have had a hard time deciding how exactly to describe my style.  It is hard cause my style seems to change with my mood.  Right now my style is very clean and simple, I am still working 3 jobs and I have 2 boys playing football, on 2 different teams.  So when I do make it into the scrapbook room, I need to make something that looks good but is quick to put together.  Below I have created two C&S cards using the Inspired Stamps Be Still Silhouettes.

Materials used:  Inspired Stamps Be Still Silhouettes
CTMH Materials: White Daisy and Black Cardstock, Black and Grey Wool inks.
