Sneak Peek Week and Art Journal

This week at Inspired Stamps it is Sneak Peek Week as Inspired Stamps is putting NEW Releases in the store on Friday at Noon.

I am giving you a Sneak Peak of the new Inspired Stamps Art Journal Words & Faces.

I used this set to create my Art journal work, this page has no "journalling" in my handwriting.  Instead I journaled my thoughts with Stamps.  The Left side shows how I often try to look on the outside, Someone who is at Peace, who Believes, and Celebrates Life and loves to Play.

The Right side is how I sometimes feel, Bombarded with Fear, Fear  Failure, Fear of being Alone, Fear of losing my loved ones, Fear of the unknown, Fear of letting people down, and the list goes on and on.

At the time I First published this I was having a hardtime getting my pictures uploaded to the internet, so I typed up what I thought this page meant to me, and posted it with a link the Inspired Stamps and Anita's blogs.  Then as the day went on and the more I reflected on my artwork the more I realized that God was talking to me through this piece. He is encouraging me to embrace his joy, Believe in His Peace and Celebrate all he has given me and to release my fears and give them unto him.  Remember it is all in God's hands and to not Fear because he is right there walking beside you, and carrying you through the really rough times.

Until Next Week

Art Journal Week #2

For my Art Journal this week, I used Deuteronomy 31:8 .  In times of trouble it is very hard to remember that God goes before us.  Since I have had a year of trouble, divorce and financial, this scripture really hits home.

This weeks journal isn't that impressive or as nice as I wanted it, but when your son tells you, he is going to a weekend wrestling tournament, at the last minute, you are usually rushed.  I had to get my art journal done rather quickly, with no time to redo if I made a mistake.

The joy of art journaling is anything goes, there is no correct way or proper medium which you have to use.  So for today's post I painted my background using Create a Shade Pearl paint and Smoothie reinker from CTMH.  The pearl paint gives the page a nice soft shimmer, then I just started experimenting, I took white glue and drew my flowers on the page, then dropped Heavenly Blue reinker onto the glue and used a paint brush to mix in the colors, this gave my flowers a watery look.  While i was mixing the glue, I realized that I was loosing my glue outline so out came my stardust and Gunmetal stickles to trace the outline.  I used the gunmetal only because I had run out of stardust on the first flower.  I them let this all dry over night and the next day I added my scripture Deuteronomy 31:8  using Staz-On Jet Black ink, and my journaling using a black marker.

Sorry for the poor picture quality, I had to use my phone camera because the batteries were dead on my regular camera.

My First Art Journal

For the month of March I will be posting pictures of my Christian Art Journal, instead of my regular Inspired Stamps Design Team artwork.  So here is my first attempt at an Art Journal.

I must say it is quite fun.  For more information on Art Journaling please check out Antoinette's blog.

To create my Art Journal I cut out several Butterflies in various sizes using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.  I then arranged them randomly on my page and sprayed over them with a mixture of Water, CTMH Pacifica reinker, and Alcohol (this makes it dry faster).  Then once the paper was dry (with a little help from my heat gun), I placed the butterflies randomly again on my paper and sprayed it this time with CTMH Holiday Red reinker in the Pacifica mix  (I was hoping for purple but instead got this pinkish color).  Once that layer was dry I stamped Inspired Stamps Romans 2:28 in three place on my background with Staz-On Black Ink.  I wasn't satisfied with how well you could read the middle verse, so I stamped it again on vellum, and tore around the edges, and inked the edges, then used my waterbrush to soften the ink on the edges and placed this on top of the original stamped image.  I then wrote my feelings down in black fine tip marker by Zig.  Finally I took my Versa Mark ink pad and using the whole pad I stamped it all over the page, and them sprinkled the page with Halographic Embossing powder by Ranger, and heat embossed it.

Close up of the Halographic embossing.

Getting into shapes

This week over at Inspired Stamps we are getting into shape for March.  So I pulled out my Journal Shapes and Scenic View stamp sets and looked at their shapes instead of their design and worked on coming up with something out-of-the-box.  This is what I came up with.  I created this Easter card using the Shapes from the two stamp sets listed above can you tell where they were used?

Can you see where I used my shapes?  Remember I think outside of the box.  Okay here is a clue.

Yeap I stamped various shapes on the eggs with Versa Mark ink and then clear embossed them.  I then used the Emboss Resist technique and "colored" my eggs.  I used the Scenic View Stamp Set for the Purple, Light Pink, Green, and Yellow eggs, and Journal Shapes for the Dark Pink and Orange eggs.

I also used the grass stamp from Scenic View set to add texture to my grass, and for the sentiment.  I was going to redo a couple of the eggs, because of the stray pieces of embossing powder that speckled them, but my youngest so said they reminded him of the eggs they do when they use the "clear wax crayon" to decorate their eggs before they color them, so I had to leave them as is.

Material Used:  Inspired Stamps Journal Shapes and Scenic View
CTMH Materials used: Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge, Clover Meadow, Hollyhock and White Daisy Cardstock, Clear Detail embossing Powder, Sky, Lagoon, Pear, Blush, Cotton Candy, Black, Orange, Sunflower and Gypsy Inks
Background paper is from a DCWV paper stack.
